COCOA, Fla. — A major traffic crash has resulted in the closure of all eastbound lanes of the Bennett Causeway (State Road 528) in Cocoa on Monday morning, causing significant disruptions for commuters traveling toward Merritt Island and Cape Canaveral.

According to authorities, the crash occurred at approximately 6:00 a.m. on the eastbound side of the Bennett Causeway. Officers with the Cocoa Police Department responded to the scene and began managing traffic while emergency crews worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

As a result of the crash, all eastbound lanes of SR-528 were shut down at US-1, creating substantial traffic delays throughout the area. Motorists heading toward Cape Canaveral, Merritt Island, Port Canaveral, or nearby destinations have been advised to seek alternate routes.

Officials are directing drivers to use the **Hubert Humphrey Causeway (SR-520)** as an alternative crossing while the closure remains in effect.

At this time, authorities have not released information regarding the number of vehicles involved or whether any injuries were reported. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Traffic backups are expected to continue until crews complete roadway clearance operations and determine it is safe to reopen the eastbound lanes.
